Desert Dreaming

I’m currently obsessed with anything that has a cactus print on it! I’m not 100% sure why, but I’d say my fascination with imagery shot in American deserts and the Joshua Tree National Park (Southern California) has something to do with it.

I spotted this top (also a shift dress) in ‘Moah’, a downtown Wellington boutique. Moah stock one-off pieces, so almost anything you buy there will be unique to you! On the downside…. unfortunately you can’t own this epic little cactus print but you can check out www.moah.co.nz for other unique pieces (or even better, go and see the shop yourself at 116 Cuba Street, Wellington NZ).

– Being photographed by Sam Lee for FQ Magazine and Holly Burgess (@hsburg) for Miss FQ Magazine.

The Backroad Blog x Wrangler

Wrangler was started in 1947 by Blue Bell, a denim manufacturing company with a simple ambition; to create the world’s best five pocket jeans.

Trends may have come and gone ever since, but Wrangler’s focus has remained the same; it’s all about the jeans. A non-compromising position, giving Wrangler its iconic status.

_______

Anyone that knows me well would probably tell you that Wrangler is one of my all time favourite brands. If someone told me when I started this blog that I would end up collaborating with Wrangler… I wouldn’t have believed them…… but here we are! Check out what we came up with featuring garments from the ‘Outer Peace Inner Visions’ and ‘Winter 16’ collections.

Two For The Road

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to live in one of Australia’s most celebrated beach towns, Byron Bay (NSW).

Byron’s beaches, renowned surfing spots, endless boutique eateries and next level shopping make it easy to see why ‘beautiful people’ from all around the world flock there to holiday. Byron is a hub of creative minds, with some of Australia’s most influential and internationally recognised clothing brands, artists and photographers calling it home.

During my time in Byron I discovered Belle Bohemia, a treasure trove of handmade bohemian goodness. All of the garments and accessories featured in this shoot are from Belle Bohemia. Most items are one-off unique pieces so I can’t guarantee they are still available – but I think that’s what makes this shop so special! If you are ever fortunate enough to visit Byron Bay I definitely suggest you pay a visit to 4 Jonson St (phn: 02 66 857 735).

Sundown

Welcome to my collaboration with Byron Bay based label Sweet Papillon.

I fell in love with this dress from the moment I took it off the hanger in the gorgeous Sweet Papillon boutique (31a Fletcher St, Byron Bay). Nicole Sharratt, the founder (and designer) of Sweet Papillon is one clever lady and I encourage you to check out her other beautiful and feminine garments at www.sweetpapillon.com.au.

Glassons Edt. #6

What’s better than collaborating on a project with two of your talented friends?…….. not much!

During my last trip to Australia I was fortunate enough to sneak in a couple of days in Melbourne and a photo shoot featuring the latest pieces from Glassons boutique range EDT #6. Melbourne seems to be ‘the’ place to be as I spent most of the week just trying to catch up with all my school friends who now live there. Two of these friends include Georgia Balloch and Sam Voss – Georgia is working as a model/actress and Sam as a make up artist – hence why I was super excited when they agreed to work together! See the outcome of our collaboration below (and check out the links to their sites while you’re at it).

A special thanks goes to:

The lovely girls at Glassons Chapel St, Melbourne for their help….. and their patience while I chose garments!

and; Collins Precision Dental, Melbourne CBD for lending us their cute little balcony. www.collinsprecisiondental.com.au phone: 03 9654 5705

Sunday Drive

You know when sometimes things fall in to place all at once? This shoot happened like that! I went from having nothing but a ‘vision’… to having a classic car, a model and a kick-ass outfit in the space of two hours!

A huge thanks goes to the effortlessly gorgeous Eily Neilson for agreeing to this spur of the moment shoot and also to Tony Meester for the loan of his 57 Ford Thunderbird.

A special thanks goes to Lucy Lucas and her team of lovely ladies at Escape Clothing Wanaka for supplying the garments which you can shop online at www.escapeclothing.co.nz.

No thanks goes to the crazy pet goat that kept head-butting me while I was trying to take photos!… the joys of shooting in the country!

Trelise Cooper

Last week I had the pleasure of attending ‘Theatre of Fashion’, a live catwalk performance combining Trelise Cooper installations (COOP, COOPER & TRELISE COOPER) held in the beautiful Glendhu Bay, Wanaka, NZ. This event was organised as a fundraiser for the Upper Clutha Hospice and raised approximately $41,500!!

Dame Trelise Cooper attended both the matinee and evening performances which showcased her Summer 15/16 collection – “The collection is equally regal and rebellious, inspired by my recent visit to the Palace of Versailles.”

I really could go on and on about how amazingly polished this event was – everything from the delicate cupcakes, pretty china tea cups and floral arrangements to the rustic beauty of the woolshed venue…. not to mention Trelise’s stunning garments – but hopefully all this is portrayed in my images below!
